Japanese banks’ total assets total $9.12b in March

Deposits in domestic branches were at $6.32t as of end March 2024.

Japan’s domestically licensed banks have total combined assets amount to JPY1,429.87t (approximately US$9.12t) as of March 2024, according to figures released by the Bank of Japan (BOJ).

Deposits in domestic branches amounted to almost JPY991.17t ($6.32t), of which JPY649.38t ($4.12t)are ordinary deposits and JPY224.7t ($1,43t) are time deposits. Cash and due from banks amounted to JPY369.25t ($2.35t) as of end-March.

Total assets and liabilities in overseas banks were JPY234.4t ($1.49t), of which JPY98.04t are deposits.
