Bank Mandiri to introduce banking to students

The part of the lender’s school banking program is putting up miniature banks in target 68 schools.

Bank Mandiri says it will allocate a Rp 3.6 billion ($405,177) fund for a school banking program in which elementary and junior high school students would be given an early introduction to the world of banking.

“The establishment of school banking is an effort to create good quality human resources who can take banking and turn it into a main player in the international stage,” Bank Mandiri chief director Zulkifli Zaini said Friday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

According to Zulkifli, the fund would be used to build rooms, provide computers and banking related books, as well as mini bank-training facilities for students.

Mandiri hopes that by providing miniature banks at schools, it will give children a better understanding of the banking system from an early age.
