Mizuho ties up with LSEG to enhance carbon credit market

Carbon credits can be issued as dividends, providing investors with a long-term supply.

Mizuho Financial Group announced a partnership with the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) to boost the carbon credit market.

LSEG has formed a Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) designation for funds and firms investing in decarbonisation initiatives which are projected to generate carbon credits.

These carbon credits can be issued as dividends, providing investors with a long-term supply.

Under this agreement, Mizuho and LSEG will work together to provide Mizuho clients access to investment funds and companies listed under the VCM designation.

Additionally, they will engage in activities such as providing information about carbon credits to Mizuho clients.

Both companies view carbon credits as a funding mechanism that can accelerate decarbonization efforts, contributing to global decarbonization initiatives.

This agreement builds upon the collaboration announced in November 2022 between Mizuho and LSEG in the field of sustainability.
