Alipay+ unveils campaigns, promos for Chinese New Year

These include special voucher bundles of up to 90% off.

Alipay+ is launching special campaigns and promos in celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year.

In a press release, Alipay+ noted that outbound travel bookings from China have surged more than 10 times compared to 2023. Top travel destinations include Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. 

With this, cross-border consumption is expected to surge for other Asian origins too – in Singapore, for example, there was a sevenfold increase in bookings for the Chinese New Year in 2023, Alipay+ said.

The Chinese payments giant is rolling out special voucher bundles with up to 90% savings for use across all Alipay+ merchants in Southeast Asia.

For travellers headed to Japan, Alipay+ has partnered with over 500 street merchants around Mount Fuji in Fujiyoshida and in Kawaguchi Lake for special deals.

Those heading to South Korea can enjoy easy payments from all ZeroPay merchants and in shops located at Myeongdong, the country’s most popular shopping district.

Alipay+ payments are also now available in luxury brands across Europe, including Cartier, Valentino, Harrods, Selfridges, Duomo di Milano, La Rinascente and El Corte Ingles.

The Dubai Airport Duty Free Shop in the United Arab Emirates will also conduct a UEFA ticket lottery throughout February, offering Alipay+ users the chance to win a set of UEFA tickets, with flights and accommodation included, when they spend over 250 AED.

As of January 2024, Alipay+ is now active across 57 markets and has over 88 million merchants in its network, the payments company said in a press release.

Partner wallets and bank apps include Alipay (Chinese Mainland), AlipayHK (Hong Kong SAR, China), GCash (Philippines), TrueMoney (Thailand), Touch ‘n Go eWallet (Malaysia), OCBC Digital (Singapore), amongst others.
